The newly launched European Partnership for Personalised Medicine (EP PerMed) aims to improve future healthcare for all citizens through personalised therapy, diagnosis and prevention. With a total budget of around €375 million, provided by the EU & more than 50 partners, EP PerMed will significantly support the transnational development of personalised medicine approaches over the next ten years as well as their successful translation into clinical practice.
A preliminary announcement for the first joint transnational call for proposals (JTC2024) has now been published. JTC2024 will aim to fund research that fosters the identification or validation of targets for personalised medicine approaches. The call calendar, including the deadline for pre- and full-proposal submission, will be available soon. The call is expected to be launched beginning of January 2024.
Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) and Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship (VLAIO) will participate in this call. More information on available funding for researchers based in Flanders and on how to apply will become available once the call has been officially launched. You can already turn to the dedicated page on the VLAIO website or contact VLAIO at patricia.menten@vlaio.be or FWO at europe@fwo.be.
Disclaimer: We kindly inform you that the funding organisations participating in the call cannot yet respond to concrete substantive & practical questions until the call documents are online. This to ensure that all European researchers have equal opportunities.

The RUSTICA project obtained funding under Horizon 2020, more in particular under the topic ‘Closing nutrient cycles’. RUSTICA focuses on demonstration and implementation of circular bio-based nutrient valorisation chains, focusing on waste from the fruit and vegetable agro-food system. The project kicked off in 2021 and will run until 2024. It will use a strong multi-actor approach to co-create both socio-economic and technological knowledge in four case study regions in Europe and one in Colombia. The Flanders-based company DRANCO is one of the project partners and acts as technical project manager for the entire project. DRANCO participates in the project to develop its own technologies, to network and to help make the transition to a more circular based economy.
