Horizon Europe work programme admendments - changes for the Health Cluster & new Cancer Mission calls

The European Commission has published the amendments to the Horizon Europe main workprogramme.

The main changes for Cluster 1 - Health concern:

  • HORIZON-HLTH-2024-DISEASE-13-01: Implementation research for management of multiple long-term conditions in the context of non-communicable diseases (Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases - GACD)
  • HORIZON-HLTH-2024-CARE-14-01: Pre-commercial procurement for environmentally sustainable, climate neutral and circular health and care systems
  • HORIZON-HLTH-2024-DISEASE-12-01: European partnership for pandemic preparedness

These calls will open on 25 April 2024 with deadline to apply on 26 November 2024.


As part of the amendment, 6 new Cancer Mission call for proposals (2024) were published under the Missions work programme :

  • HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-01: Use cases for the UNCAN.eu research data platform
  • HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-02: Support dialogue towards the development of national cancer data nodes
  • HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-03: Accessible and affordable tests to advance early detection of heritable cancers in European regions
  • HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-04: Support a pragmatic clinical trial programme by cancer charities
  • HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-05: Improving the understanding and management of late-effects in adolescents and young adults (AYA) with cancer
  • HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-06: An information portal for the European Cancer Patient Digital Centre

These calls are open since 18 April 2024 with deadline to apply on 18 September 2024.

BEAT-AF - Ground-Breaking Electroporation-based intervention for Atrial Fibrillation treatment

The Horizon2020 project BEAT-AF brings together 9 European renowned clinical centres in France, Belgium, Czechia, Germany and Austria. Together, the consortium strives to revolutionize Atrial Fibrillation (AF) treatment through catheter ablation and contribute to decrease the huge burden of AF in Europe. The BEAT-AF project kicked off in 2021 and will run until 2026. The department of electrophysiology of the AZ Sint-Jan Hospital in Bruges is partner in the project and has so far contributed to the pre-clinical development, the first in man studies and first registries of the revolutionary AF treatment put forward by the consortium. The first pilot studies show that the treatment is safe, effective and efficient.
