New ERC call open: ERC Science Journalism Initiative
The European Research Council (ERC) wants to contribute to safeguard independent quality science journalism and therefore a new call for an ERC Science Journalism Initiative is included in the 2023 ERC work programme (p. 58). The call is open for proposals from “an organisation or a consortium of organisations to set up a funding scheme that would facilitate 3- 5-month stays of journalists at research institutions in order to give them access (for example, through ERC grantees) to a better understanding of frontier research, while respecting journalistic independence.”
- One proposal will be selected for funding. This ERC call allows for financial support to third parties (FSTP).
- Type of action: Coordination and Support Action (CSA)
- The Indicative budget is EUR 1 500 000 from the 2023 budget
- Maximum duration of the project is 48 months.
- The call deadline is 15 December 2022 17:00 CET. It is expected applicants will be informed about the evaluation outcome by the end of February and the project to start at the 1st of May 2023.
- The call documents can be accessed on the ERC Science Journalism Initiative call page on the European Commission Funding and Tender Portal and proposals need also to be submitted via that portal.
