ProgrammesEIT Food (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) has opened the Seedbed Venture Catalyst Call for Startups for teams created by Venture Builders in the programme. The call aims to help founders overcome specific hurdles in their venture-building journey through targeted financial support. Applications are open to eligible teams in EU countries across all EIT Food regions until 27 January 2027.
The call is designed for startup teams created by Venture Builders in the Seedbed Venture Catalyst programme. It is designed to offer funding for founders who have reached a stage where external financial support is needed to address blockages that are slowing progress.
According to the call text, eligible uses of the funding may include producing a test batch of a novel ingredient, negotiating contracts, securing intellectual property, hiring or paying a co-founder so they can remain in the programme, or buying equipment for a test lab facility.
Please note, only projects coming from the seven Venture Catalyst partners, are eligible: Carbon13, Enviu, FOOD FOUNDERS, Fresh Ventures, Ivoro, Kost Studio and Zinc. Source documents are available here.
Eligible start-up teams should review the call guidelines, prepare their budget using the template provided, and check the draft lump sum agreement before applying, with the deadline set for 27 January 2027.

The Horizon2020 project BEAT-AF brings together 9 European renowned clinical centres in France, Belgium, Czechia, Germany and Austria. Together, the consortium strives to revolutionize Atrial Fibrillation (AF) treatment through catheter ablation and contribute to decrease the huge burden of AF in Europe. The BEAT-AF project kicked off in 2021 and will run until 2026. The department of electrophysiology of the AZ Sint-Jan Hospital in Bruges is partner in the project and has so far contributed to the pre-clinical development, the first in man studies and first registries of the revolutionary AF treatment put forward by the consortium. The first pilot studies show that the treatment is safe, effective and efficient.
