Deployment: Best use of technologies

The European Commission has published a new call under the Digital Europe programme (Special Objective 5: Deployment and best use of technologies): European Digital Identity and Trust Ecosystem (Standards and Sample Implementation).

The action aims to support the implementation of the European Digital Identity and Trust Ecosystem and manage the transition between the current and future frameworks supplementing or replacing the current digital service infrastructure (eID) by the EU Digital Identity Wallet framework.

The call foresees support for two successive waves of large-scale pilots to test the deployment of the EU Digital Identity Wallet in priority use cases, including pilots using the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) to support the EU Digital Identity Wallet in cross border use cases, deploying the EU Digital Identity Wallet in national eID ecosystems by Member States. The second round of grants should help enhance technical specifications and implementation guidelines for the wallet and its eco-system and prepare its application in a new range of use cases, enabling it to support interaction with a wide range of public and private services and related attestations.

More information on the call, its objectives, scope and conditions of participation can be found on the Funding & Tenders Portal: DIGITAL-2024-BESTUSE-TECH-06-TRUST

The call is planned to open for submission on 14 May 2024, deadline to submit proposals is 24 September 2024.

ANERIS - Next generation tools for sensing and monitoring marine-life

Funded under Horizon Europe (HORIZON-INFRA-2022-TECH-01) and running from 2023 to 2026, the ANERIS project aims to tackle the rapid loss of ocean biodiversity. The project’s main objective is to develop, test and implement the next generation of scientific instrumentation tools and methods for sensing and monitoring marine-life. Another key concept of the project is the introduction of the concept of Operational Marine Biology (OMB) as a biodiversity information system. The project consortium consists of 25 partners from 13 countries. Read more about the project and the contribution of Flemish partner VLIZ in this testimonial.
