ProgrammesThe ERC Scientific Council has listened to the concerns from members of the research community about the recent announcement on changes to the resubmission rules. The changes, intended to manage the surge in demand for ERC grants, pertain to calls for proposals in the forthcoming 2027 ERC Work Programme.
The Scientific Council has decided to readjust some of the announced changes related to resubmissions. Its response to the community is set out in a letter signed by ERC President Maria Leptin on behalf of the Scientific Council, published on the ERC website today. In a footnote of the published letter the adjustments can be found.
The Scientific Council will explain their thinking and responses to the proposals from the community in a separate document to be published on the ERC website in due course.

The MareGraph project, ‘Towards an Interoperable Marine Knowledge Graph’, obtained funding under the Digital Europe topic ‘OPEN-AI – Public Sector Open Data for AI and Open Data Platform’. The project will increase the semantic, technical, and legal interoperability of three selected high-valued datasets (HVDs) all maintained by the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), which is one of the four partners of the project. This will allow the onboarding of essential marine datasets in the Common European Data Spaces. As such MareGraph will provide a structural component in the digital transition of the marine landscape. The numerous impacts of the project will benefit our seas globally in old and new ways to come.
