ProgrammesThe European Innovation Council has published submission-related updates for several 2026 Horizon Europe calls. For three EIC Pathfinder Challenges topics, the Part B Ethics and Security annexes are no longer mandatory. For the EIC Transition 2026 call, applicants using an eligible six-digit originating project number need to add three leading zeros in Part A.
Updates about submission are published in the part "Topic updates" under each call topic on the Funding and Tender Portal. Hereunder the publication of topic updates of some EIC Pathfinder and EIC Transition call topics.
EIC Pathfinder
The European Commission has announced a change in the ethics and security section in the following call topics (deadline for submission 28 October)
The annexes, regarding the Part B Ethics section and Part B Security section, were indicated previously as mandatory. They may be useful for the Ethics and Security assessment of the selected for funding proposals, however, the Commission noticed that they create confusion for the applicants, because the basic information on Ethics and Security is already mandatory in Part A. The Commission has now removed these annexes from Part B and encourages applicants to check the submission and to make sure they comply with the corrected requirements.
EIC Transition
Regarding the call topic HORIZON-EIC-2026-TRANSITIONOPEN, with deadline 16 September: applicants specifying an eligible originating project with a 6-digit project number should note that the administrative forms (part A - Other questions) only accept 9-digit project number. To proceed with the submission, applicants should add three leading zeros (000) to the project number. Eligible originating project with a 9-digit do not need to add anything.

The YoPA project, ‘a youth-centred preventive action approach towards co-created implementation of socially and physically activating environmental interventions’ obtained funding from Horizon Europe’s Health Cluster. The project addresses the multifaceted challenges of physical inactivity and health inequalities through a unique participatory approach. The project places teenagers between 12 and 18 years old in vulnerable situations at the forefront of the intervention process. The Institute of Tropical Medicine is a partner in the project and will conduct a Realist Evaluation to understand how youth co-creation contributes to improved adolescent health and well-being in four cities in Denmark, Netherlands, Nigeria and South Africa. By integrating its results and sharing its approach in an open access Toolbox, ITM aims to contribute to fostering sustainable, youth-led solutions for healthier urban environments.
