Pillar 2

Global Challenges & European Industrial Competitiveness

Horizon Europe
General Aspects

Horizon Europe is a huge innovation funding programme. The subprogrammes have lot's of generic aspects in common, and best practises to take into account.

Horizon Europe
Legal & Financial Aspects

When applying for a project, you need to take into account the administrative & financial framework, with rules for application and project implementation.

In this part, the European Commission is looking for projects and solutions that can solve current and future global challenges. This is therefore all about how Research and Innovation can improve our society. It is divided in 6 clusters (domains) which in turn are split up in destinations (areas) which again are divided in sections and calls for proposals.

ANERIS - Next generation tools for sensing and monitoring marine-life

Funded under Horizon Europe (HORIZON-INFRA-2022-TECH-01) and running from 2023 to 2026, the ANERIS project aims to tackle the rapid loss of ocean biodiversity. The project’s main objective is to develop, test and implement the next generation of scientific instrumentation tools and methods for sensing and monitoring marine-life. Another key concept of the project is the introduction of the concept of Operational Marine Biology (OMB) as a biodiversity information system. The project consortium consists of 25 partners from 13 countries. Read more about the project and the contribution of Flemish partner VLIZ in this testimonial.
