The European Commission decided to cancel three quantum topics from the Horizon Europe Cluster 4 work programme 2026-2027. The topics in call HORIZON-CL4-2026-04 are currently suspended while an amendment to the work programme is being finalised, which is currently foreseen in the fourth quarter of 2026. The submission platform for these topics is no longer accessible, and participants preparing or submitting proposals have already been informed.

The intention is to relaunch these call topics under the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, which will be mandated to include, among other things, also quantum technologies.

The suspended topics are

  • HORIZON-CL4-2026-04-DIGITAL-EMERGING-11 on quantum sensors for inertial navigation,
  • HORIZON-CL4-2026-04-DIGITAL-EMERGING-12 on standards for quantum technologies as a coordination and support action, and
  • HORIZON-CL4-2026-04-DIGITAL-EMERGING-18 on large-scale photonic quantum computing platform technologies as a research and innovation action.

Further information is expected from EuroHPC JU, including updates on possible future calls: https://eurohpc-ju.europa.eu and https://eurohpc-ju.europa.eu/about-eurohpc-ju_en.

MareGraph - Towards an Interoperable Marine Knowledge Graph

The MareGraph project, ‘Towards an Interoperable Marine Knowledge Graph’, obtained funding under the Digital Europe topic ‘OPEN-AI – Public Sector Open Data for AI and Open Data Platform’. The project will increase the semantic, technical, and legal interoperability of three selected high-valued datasets (HVDs) all maintained by the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), which is one of the four partners of the project. This will allow the onboarding of essential marine datasets in the Common European Data Spaces. As such MareGraph will provide a structural component in the digital transition of the marine landscape. The numerous impacts of the project will benefit our seas globally in old and new ways to come.
