ProgrammesThe 2nd EO 4 Soil Symposium is organised by the European Space Agency (ESA) and focusses on three thematic areas:
Topics include soil monitoring methods, soil organic carbon mapping, uncertainty assessment, data harmonisation, soil carbon certification and possible Copernicus soil monitoring services.
The in-person event is set for 4–6 November 2026 at ESA-ESRIN in Frascati, near Rome, Italy. Abstracts for oral presentations and posters can be submitted until 13 August 2026. Abstracts must be in English and should be 200 to 400 words. Submitters need to provide co-author and presenter details. ESA plans to notify selected oral presentations and posters by 15 September 2026. Registration for attendance is also open, with closure on 11 October 2026. Funded under Horizon Europe (HORIZON-INFRA-2024-TECH-01-03) and running from 2025 to 2028, UrbanAIR develops advanced digital twins that simulate the interactions between urban climate, human behaviour, and policy choices. These models enable cities to explore what-if scenarios, such as new green infrastructure, mobility measures or building designs, and assess their impacts on health, safety and social equity.
