ProgrammesThe 2nd EO 4 Soil Symposium is organised by the European Space Agency (ESA) and focusses on three thematic areas:
Topics include soil monitoring methods, soil organic carbon mapping, uncertainty assessment, data harmonisation, soil carbon certification and possible Copernicus soil monitoring services.
The in-person event is set for 4–6 November 2026 at ESA-ESRIN in Frascati, near Rome, Italy. Abstracts for oral presentations and posters can be submitted until 13 August 2026. Abstracts must be in English and should be 200 to 400 words. Submitters need to provide co-author and presenter details. ESA plans to notify selected oral presentations and posters by 15 September 2026. Registration for attendance is also open, with closure on 11 October 2026. The METHYLOMIC project, ‘targeting hope for personalised medicine in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases’ obtained funding from Horizon Europe’s Health Cluster. The project aims to personalise treatment allocation and enhance the effectiveness of medications for chronic immune-mediated diseases such as Crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriasis. BIRD, the Belgian inflammatory bowel disease research and development group, is a partner in the project and is involved in the OmiCrohn trial, a prospective randomised clinical trial for individualised therapy in Crohn’s disease patients. With BIRD’s active role in this trial, the project is set to deliver predictive, biomarker-based therapies that bring renewed hope for Crohn’s disease patients across Europe.
