ProgrammesEIT Food (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) has opened its second call for the Proof-of-Concept Co-Financing Instrument for agrifood startups across all EIT Food regions. The scheme is designed to reduce the financial risk of small pilot projects and proof-of-concepts with prospective corporate clients. Applications are accepted until 30 November 2026, with several cut-off dates for evaluation.
The instrument supports early commercial collaboration between agrifood start-ups and industry. It focuses on proof-of-concept projects and small-scale pilot projects that can help a start-up test its solution with a prospective corporate customer before moving to a larger pilot or broader commercial activity.
EIT Food states that it is looking for projects with less than €60,000 in costs and a clear path towards commercial success. Eligible activities should relate directly to the proposed proof-of-concept or pilot project with the corporate partner.
The call details can be accessed here and the call is open to applicants from all EIT Food regions. The next cut-off dates are 30 September and 30 October 2026.
This instrument focuses on agrifood start-ups, because the instrument is specifically aimed at start-ups that want to test solutions with prospective corporate clients and move towards commercial uptake. Agrifood start-ups may therefore wish to review the call page and prepare or submit an application before the cut-off dates.

The Department of Economy, Science and Innovation of the Flemish government coordinates the Horizon 2020 Coordination and Support Action SAPHIRe, which started on 1 December 2018. The aim of the project is to secure the adoption of personalised medicine in all European regions, including sparsely populated and remote regions and regions with different innovation capacities.
The activities of SAPHIRe are complementary to the smart specialisation partnership on personalised medicine – S3P4PM, which is also coordinated by the Department of Economy, Science and Innovation.
