ProgrammesOn 10 November 2025, Switzerland and the EU signed an agreement enabling Swiss participation in Horizon Europe and Digital Europe and Euratom, and this retroactively to 1 January 2025. This means that researchers and innovators can participate as beneficiaries in Horizon Europe and Digital Europe from the 2025 programme year onwards and can submit project proposals in the role of coordinators.
Many details about participation of Switzerland in Horizon Europe and Digital Europe can be found in an extensive FAQ list of SERI, the Swiss administration.
Regarding participation in strategic areas:
Additionally, the agreement lays the groundwork for Switzerland’s future participation in other EU programmes like Erasmus+ (expected to begin in 2027) and EU4Health, which is contingent upon the health agreement's activation within the Switzerland-EU package.

Only for stakeholders located in Flanders
Funded under Horizon Europe (HORIZON-INFRA-2024-TECH-01-03) and running from 2025 to 2028, UrbanAIR develops advanced digital twins that simulate the interactions between urban climate, human behaviour, and policy choices. These models enable cities to explore what-if scenarios, such as new green infrastructure, mobility measures or building designs, and assess their impacts on health, safety and social equity. The project consortium consists of 18 partners from 11 countries. Read more about the project and the contribution of Flemish partner Vito in this testimonial.
