Programmes Digital, Industry & Space SemiconductorsThe Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) has opened a new set of three interrelated calls for the set-up of a Pilot Line on Advanced Photonic Integrated Circuits:
The proposed pilot line will serve as a critical infrastructure for bridging the gap between laboratory research and industrial-scale production, facilitating the development of reliable, scalable, and cost-effective Photonic Integrated Circuits solutions. It aims to foster collaboration among research institutions, SMEs, and large corporations across Europe, driving innovation, and accelerating the commercialization of Photonic Integrated Circuits technologies. By doing so, it will not only enhance Europe’s competitive edge in a key technological domain but also contribute significantly to the continent’s economic resilience and strategic autonomy in critical technologies
The calls have been opened on 25 July, deadline to submit proposals is 17 September 2024.

Funded by Horizon Europe, under call topic HORIZON-WIDERA-2021-ERA-01-80, INSPIRE is Europe's Centre of Excellence on inclusive gender equality in research and innovation. It relies on four Knowledge and Support Hubs to create knowledge in the areas of sustaining change, widening participation, intersectionality and innovation. Moreover, it supports stakeholders in their journey to become more inclusive through 12 Communities of Practice. In this way, INSPIRE aims to develop both cutting-edge knowledge and innovative strategies for gender equality in the European Research Area. INSPIRE brings together 14 partners. The Belgian partner in this project is UHasselt.
