The well-known Excel template used to prepare and submit the detailed budget in lump sum proposals will be successively replaced in the course of 2026 by an online detailed budget table, integrated directly in the Part A application forms. The new format is currently used in 9 topics in Cluster 5 (see list below). When preparing the project proposal for these topics, applicants enter their lump sum budget directly in the Part A application forms, and not in the Excel template.

The lump sum budget table in the online Part A forms requires the same level of information as the Excel template, and the budget will be assessed in the same way as before. Detailed instructions on how to fill in the budget table are included in the online form itself.

As the roll-out of the online table is gradual, the new format of the budget table will not be applied to all lump sum topics immediately. During this transition time, there will be lump sum topics with the Excel file or with the online budget form running in parallel. The Commision plans to update the detailed guidance on lump sums (How to manage your lump sum grant) to clarify this and to include information on the IT implementation of the lump sum budget table in Part A proposal forms. The Commission claims that an FAQ will be published on the topic pages concerned to indicate the lump topics where the new online budget table is used.
