The Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) has announced its plans to pilot a novel, applicant-driven approach to its next call for proposals. As there are still untapped opportunities in IHI's Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), Call 9, which is scheduled for launch in early 2025, will have a much broader scope than previous calls.
Call 9 will welcome proposals covering any aspect of the SRIA. Proposals will still have to adhere to the philosophy of IHI. They will have to: address an unmet public health need; require a large-scale, ambitious, cross-sector, public-private partnership; have clearly-described impacts on society, the economy and science; take account of the pre-competitive nature of IHI projects.
From a procedural point of view, IHI call 9 will be a standard, single-stage call for proposals. Applicants will have to ensure that half of their project’s costs are covered by in-kind contributions from IHI’s industry members and (if relevant) IHI contributing partners.

The EITHOS project, funded under Horizon Europe Cluster 3 call “Online identity theft is countered”, aims to develop a “European Identity Theft Observatory System” (EITHOS). The system will provide easy access to information and intelligence about previous and current identity theft related trends to empower EU citizens, Law Enforcements Agencies (LEAs), and policy makers to further contribute to the prevention, detection, and investigation of crimes related to online identity theft. The Cyber and Data Security Lab (CDSL), part of the Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) Research Group at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), is one of the 12 partners in the EITHOS consortium, contributing its vast expertise on legal aspects of data protection, cybersecurity and information security law and policy.
