This conference brings together researchers, policymakers, research managers and other stakeholders to look at the role of research networks in European research and innovation. It focuses on current discussions around the European Research Area and FP10, including widening, young researchers, inclusiveness, innovation and competitiveness. The programme is designed to combine keynote input, policy discussions, participant pitches, poster sessions and networking.

The COST Conference 2026 looks at how research networks contribute to a more inclusive and impactful European research and innovation landscape. Sessions are set to cover recent developments in the European Research Area and FP10, with input from high-level speakers and experts, as well as contributions from COST Action participants on what successful research networks need from FP10.

The programme is expected to include a keynote speech, discussions with leading voices shaping ERA and FP10, pitches from COST Action participants, poster sessions showing COST Actions with policy impact, and networking opportunities. The organisers indicate that further programme details are to be announced.

ANERIS - Next generation tools for sensing and monitoring marine-life

Funded under Horizon Europe (HORIZON-INFRA-2022-TECH-01) and running from 2023 to 2026, the ANERIS project aims to tackle the rapid loss of ocean biodiversity. The project’s main objective is to develop, test and implement the next generation of scientific instrumentation tools and methods for sensing and monitoring marine-life. Another key concept of the project is the introduction of the concept of Operational Marine Biology (OMB) as a biodiversity information system. The project consortium consists of 25 partners from 13 countries. Read more about the project and the contribution of Flemish partner VLIZ in this testimonial.
