Pre-announcement ERDERA Clinical Trial Call 2026

The European Rare Diseases Research Alliance (ERDERA) will launch a Clinical Trial Call 2026 (ECTC) on 1 July 2026, supporting multinational, Good Clinical Practice (GCP)-compliant Phase I, Phase I/II and Phase II interventional clinical trials in rare diseases.

Priority areas: paediatric rare diseases; rapidly progressive rare diseases; and rare diseases with no approved therapeutic options or with substantial residual unmet medical need despite existing treatments.

How it works: A multi‑stage process with a mandatory Expression of Interest. 
  • Stage 0 – Expression of Interest: Deadline 10 September 2026
  • Stage 1 – Short Proposal Stage: Deadline 29 October 2026
  • Stage 2 – Support Stage: January – July 2027
  • Stage 3 – Full Proposal Stage: July – September 2027
  • Funding Decisions: February 2028


An information webinar for prospective applicants will be held on 6 July 2026 and will provide an overview of the call objectives, eligibility requirements, evaluation process and indicative timeline.

RUSTICA - Converting organic residues into bio-based fertiliser products

The RUSTICA project obtained funding under Horizon 2020, more in particular under the topic ‘Closing nutrient cycles’.  RUSTICA focuses on demonstration and implementation of circular bio-based nutrient valorisation chains, focusing on waste from the fruit and vegetable agro-food system. The project kicked off in 2021 and will run until 2024. It will use a strong multi-actor approach to co-create both socio-economic and technological knowledge in four case study regions in Europe and one in Colombia. The Flanders-based company DRANCO is one of the project partners and acts as technical project manager for the entire project. DRANCO participates in the project to develop its own technologies, to network and to help make the transition to a more circular based economy.
