ProgrammesCurrently there are two expression of interest calls to join Community of Practices on knowledge valorisation:
The European Commission is launching a public call for R&I actors to participate in a Community of Practice for developing the competence framework for knowledge valorisation intermediaries.
The objective of the competence framework is to support building capacity and fostering organisational competencies of knowledge valorisation intermediaries across Europe.
The participants in the Community of Practice will exchange views and their experiences, share best practices, and provide contributions to the competence framework. The input from the community of practice is instrumental in collecting the practitioners’ views on the common denominators for a customisable EU framework of competencies dedicated to knowledge valorisation intermediaries.
The ideas gathered through the Community of Practice will shape principles that will inform the future European Commission policy guidance for knowledge valorisation intermediaries based on the mandate under the European Research Area (ERA) Policy Agenda 2025-2027. This is particularly relevant for the ERA action ‘Upscaling knowledge valorisation capacities and activities’ to strengthen links between academia, industry and public authorities.
The work of the Community of Practice will take place through online means (in around 4-5 meetings). It is starting in September and the work will be completed by the end of November.
Express your interest to join the Community of Practice regarding the competence framework for knowledge valorisation intermediaries by 15 September 2026.
More background information on the initiative
The European Commission is launching a Community of Practice to bring together R&I actors across Europe who are involved in generating, valorising or using multidisciplinary research and innovation results. The Community will exchange best practices on enabling conditions for valorisation and identify practical as well as structural solutions on how to strengthen the uptake and use of these results.
The Community of Practice will be kicked off in September and its work will be completed by early December 2026. It will include four online meetings and opportunities to share best practices. The ideas and experiences gathered through the Community will shape recommendations that will inform the future European Commission policy guidance on increasing the uptake of multidisciplinary research and innovation results.
This is part of ERA Policy Agenda 2025-2027, notably the action ‘Upscaling knowledge valorisation capacities and activities’.

Only for stakeholders located in Flanders
Funded under Horizon Europe (HORIZON-INFRA-2024-TECH-01-03) and running from 2025 to 2028, UrbanAIR develops advanced digital twins that simulate the interactions between urban climate, human behaviour, and policy choices. These models enable cities to explore what-if scenarios, such as new green infrastructure, mobility measures or building designs, and assess their impacts on health, safety and social equity. The project consortium consists of 18 partners from 11 countries. Read more about the project and the contribution of Flemish partner Vito in this testimonial.
