Health EIT AI Continent Deployment: Best use of technologies

EIT Health’s Innovation Uptake Call focuses on mature digital, data-driven and AI-powered solutions and seeks to support the last steps towards commercialisation.

Applicants must apply as a consortium of at least two independent legal entities from different countries. The consortium must include partners from at least two sides of the Knowledge Triangle: industry, research and education. Projects must be led by a commercialising entity, either an SME or another industry player, responsible for bringing the solution to market.

The maximum funding per project is €650,000 (total budget €5,2 million) and the grant may cover up to 50% of total project costs, so co-funding is required. Funded activities may include commercialisation pilots in real-world healthcare settings, usability testing and market adaptation, go-to-market strategy, business model validation and health economics analysis.

The call was opened on 24 June 2026 and will close on 16 September 2026. An information session is scheduled for 15 July 2026 from 12:30 to 13:30 CET, and an open Q&A session for 1 September 2026 at 11:00 CET. More information is available on the website of the call.

Autoship - a new and durable way of freight transport

Autoship is, as the name suggests, an acronym for autonomous ship. Just like with self-driving cars, the possibilities of an unmanned boat seem endless. It can create more efficient freight transport, around the clock deliveries and these are just a few of the examples. The project has two societal challenges.

At first, De Vlaamse Waterweg was a bit hesitant as their experience with FP7 or Horizon 2020 projects was limited and they had not been very successful up until then. The fact that they were already doing basic research on the topic of autonomous boats, and the administrative help of NCP Flanders helped De Vlaamse waterweg to cross the line and get involved.
