The European Defence Fund (EDF) project MaJoR is launching its first cascade funding call to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups.

This funding programme, which runs from 28 January 2026 to 25 March 2026, seeks proposals focusing on the modernisation and maintenance of defence systems across air, land, and maritime domains.

Topics of interest include multi-material structures, innovative assembly technologies, maintenance and structural health monitoring, as well as digitalisation and artificial intelligence tools for defence maintenance.

Each beneficiary may receive funding of up to €60,000 and will participate in a six-month business support programme.
Up to 30 innovators will be selected for this opportunity.
Eligibility is extended to SMEs and startups based in the EU, Norway, and Ukraine.

NCP Flanders went to Ghent to interview Maarten Verwaest, CEO and cofounder, about how he sees Horizon 2020. Limecraft is a partner in the MeMAD project, which is a collaborative RIA project submitted to an ICT call topic
