The Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) has launched three new calls for proposals, with a total budget of 216 M€. These calls refer to the activities of the Chips JU that are not directly linked to the Chips for Europe initiative (ex Key Digital Technologies JU), with resources pooled from the Horizon Europe programme.

The first call for Innovation Actions (IA) and the second call for Research and Innovation Actions (RIA) will be run in two phases, with the deadline for project outlines set on 14 May 2024, and full project proposals due by 17 September 2024.

The third call includes one topic for RIA and will be implemented as a one-phase call without national contribution but in cooperation with South Korea. The deadline for the full project proposal is 14 May. The collaborative effort with South Korea comes as a strategic action to set a framework which will strengthen the relationship and collaboration between research and innovation players in both jurisdictions.

UNCHAIN - Revolutionising urban logistics & space management

The UNCHAIN project, ‘urban logistics and planning: anticipating urban freight generation and demand including digitalisation of urban freight’ obtained funding from the Horizon Europe’s Mobility Cluster. The project focuses on breaking down data silos and promoting public-private data exchange across a unified European mobility data space, enabling more informed decisions and greater efficiency. The City of Mechelen is a partner in the project and takes on the role of ‘follower city’: it will work alongside the primary demonstration sites (in Madrid, Berlin and Florence) to maximize the geographical coverage and replicability of solutions across Europe. Mechelen aims to test 2 concrete solutions in the UNCHAIN project, with the aim to help addressing its current and future challenges in urban freight distribution.
