The New European Bauhaus Initiative was officially launched by the European Commission on 18 January 2021. It aims to bring the European Green Deal closer to the people based on three core values: sustainability, accessibility and aesthetics. The initiative will be a creative and interdisciplinary space where architects, artists, students, scientists, engineers and designers can collaborate which each other in order to turn this vision into reality.

The New European Bauhaus will unfold in three phases: Design, Delivery and Dissemination.

  • The design phase will last until the summer of 2021 and is a co-creation process to shape the concept by exploring ideas, identifying the most urgent needs and challenges, and to connect interested parties.
  • In the delivery phase five pilot projects will be set up in the autumn to co-design new sustainable and inclusive solutions.
  • In the third phase ideas and concepts defining the New European Bauhaus will be disseminated through new projects, networking and sharing of knowledge in Europe and beyond.

The European Commission will organise a series of online info sessions where the European Bauhaus Team will present this new initiative and the opportunities to contribute to this Bauhaus initiative. The full schedule of the online info sessions can be found here or on our events page. The first one is planned for 15 February and can be followed by livestream.

ERC grants awarded to professor Inez Germeys

Professor Inez Germeys leads the Center for Contextual Psychiatry at KU Leuven, which is a large multi-disciplinary research group focusing on the interaction between the person and the environment in the development of psychopathology. She has received a European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator grant (INTERACT) and Proof of Concept grant (IMPACT). With these grants professor Germeys and her team researched a new mobile self-management therapy for patients with a psychotic disorder. The Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in Daily Life (ACT-DL) was further developed for the clinical environment. In line with that the Horizon 2020 IMMERSE project aims to thoroughly evaluate strategies, processes, and outcomes of implementing a digital mobile mental health solution.
