AI-BOOST and EUCAIM have opened a joint challenge on 'Generative AI for Enhancement of Clinical Datasets'. The challenge opened on 9 July 2026 and closes on 8 September 2026. It is open to teams from academia and industry.

The challenge looks at how generative AI can help improve clinical datasets used in healthcare AI, to address the fact that real-world clinical data can be incomplete, inconsistent or insufficiently representative, affecting the quality and generalisability of AI models. The initiative aims to support approaches such as synthetic data creation, filling missing values and improving dataset completeness.

The competition is run in two phases. Applicants start with a concept note. Five selected teams are due to receive €28,500 each for a five-month development and validation phase, and may then compete for a final prize of €100,000.

An information webinar is scheduled for 22 July 2026 at 11:00 CEST. More information and the application details are available on the dedicated website.

Background:

The initiative is part of AI-BOOST, an EU-funded open challenge prize programme that supports the development and benchmarking of trustworthy, human-centric AI solutions across Europe. Designed to run highly replicable AI open innovation competitions across the EU and Associated Countries, AI-BOOST advances major AI fields while fostering collaboration on trustworthy, human-centric solutions to real-world challenges.
EUCAIM is the European Federation for Cancer Images, also co-funded by the EU.
