ProgrammesThe NIS Cooperation Group has launched a survey to collect feedback aimed at guiding the future steps towards implementing quantum-safe cryptography in Europe. This initiative follows the release of the "Coordinated Implementation Roadmap for the Transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC)". Quantum computing poses significant challenges to data security, and the European Commission aims to collaborate with stakeholders to address these challenges.
The public consultation aims to gather input from providers of critical infrastructures, industry stakeholders, and academia. Participants are encouraged to review the existing roadmap and submit concrete proposals, especially those addressing specific sector challenges. Suggestions may include mentioning open-source tools that can assist in this transition.
Feedback will be accepted until 29 September 2025 (18:00 CEST). Contributions will be reviewed and promising proposals may be invited to provide further details and input for the updated roadmap.

Background:
The Network and Information Systems Cooperation Group (NIS Cooperation Group) was established by the NIS Directive to ensure cooperation and information exchange among Member States, the European Commission and the EU Agency for cybersecurity (ENISA). Among the key outputs of the NIS Cooperation Group, there are non-binding guidelines to the EU Members States to allow effective and coherent implementation of the NIS Directive across the EU and to address wider cybersecurity policy issues.

The Stargate project obtained funding under the special Green Deal call of Horizon 2020, more in particular under the topic of “green ports and airports”. It received the maximum score of the evaluators and was selected out of more than 40 projects. Stargate’s purpose is to prove that sustainable aviation is possible and happening. It focuses on the further decarbonization of the aviation industry, the improvement of local environmental quality and the stimulation of the modal split. Together with a consortium of 21 European partners with a diverse and rich expertise (airports, community partners, knowledge institutions, consultants, local governments, …), Brussels Airports takes the lead as lighthouse airport to develop and implement innovative solutions. Results that prove successful can be deployed at the fellow airports (Toulouse, Budapest, Athens). Over the course of the coming five years, the consortium will exchange knowledge to investigate and realize more than 30 concrete projects.
