2026 marks a key milestone: the 30th anniversary of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). The theme is “30 years of curiosity that changes the world”.

The MSCA is a research and training programme that supports the career, skills development, and mobility of researchers at all stages of their careers and from all over the world. The programme funds bottom-up research in all fields based on scientific excellence and competitive funding. The programme was named after the double Nobel Prize winner Marie Skłodowska-Curie to honour and spread the values she stood for. To date, more than 150 000 researchers have participated in the programme with many more benefiting from it – including 23 Nobel laureates (Get to know MSCA).

For this milestone year a dedicated website was launched and will be updated throughout the year. It already contains a lot of interesting information:

  • Radium is used as a basis for the representation to discover 88 different highlights from 30 years of MSCA (here). Explore the different dots across the webpage to discover key milestones, inspiring stories and achievements illustrating the impact of the programme across research, innovation and international collaboration. So far 25 dots have been added.
  • A video interview with Marie Skłodowska-Curie’s granddaughter, Prof. Hélène Langevin-Joliot
  • Events calendar with activities marking the 30th anniversary taking place across Europe and beyond.
  • A communications toolkit is available in the resources section. The MSCA 30th anniversary toolkit feedback survey for stakeholders is open until 20 May. By sharing your insights and experiences, you will directly help shape the toolkit and ensure relevant updates are implemented throughout the year.

EITHOS - European Identity Theft Observatory System

The EITHOS project, funded under Horizon Europe Cluster 3 call “Online identity theft is countered”, aims to develop a “European Identity Theft Observatory System” (EITHOS). The system will provide easy access to information and intelligence about previous and current identity theft related trends to empower EU citizens, Law Enforcements Agencies (LEAs), and policy makers to further contribute to the prevention, detection, and investigation of crimes related to online identity theft. The Cyber and Data Security Lab (CDSL), part of the Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) Research Group at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), is one of the 12 partners in the EITHOS consortium, contributing its vast expertise on legal aspects of data protection, cybersecurity and information security law and policy.
