NetZeroCities launched the Twinning Programme. Currently, the call for Twin Cities is open. The selected Twin Cities will embark on a tailor-made learning programme. Over the course of 20 months, Pilot and Twin Cities will be brought together to exchange and build capacities of the latter group, with the help of facilitation support from NetZeroCities. The learning programme will cover three facilitated modules to guide the conversation toward impact: getting started, co-creating and capitalising. At its end, the shared journey will result in a Replication Plan for each Twin City, which they can implement in their own local context.
Once cities have applied, NetZeroCities partners will lead a tailored matching process to maximise the shared benefits of the programme. Twin Cities learning needs to be in line with the selected pilot activities, emissions domains and opportunities for systemic transformation will be among the top metrics for this matching. Common challenges from both sides and good practices to be shared with Pilot Cities, will also play a key role for the matching. From there, Pilot Cities and Twin Cities will meet up multiple times to get a closer look at how each group is facing barriers to change, brainstorming mutually beneficial solutions during online meetings, workshops and site visits. In addition to this continued engagement, Twin Cities will benefit from support provided by NetZeroCities partners, as well as resources on the NZC Mission Portal.
In the attachments you can find the press release as well as the guidelines for participating in the call. The application deadline is 30 June 2023, at 23:59 CEST.
NetZeroCities is part of the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme in support of European Union’s Green Deal. NetZeroCities has been designed to help cities overcome the current structural, institutional and cultural barriers they face in order to achieve climate neutrality by 2030.
NetZeroCities supports the EU’s Mission of “100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030” newly-launched as part of the Horizon Europe programme. The project works as a service-oriented platform supported by practitioners. It helps European cities by providing them with the support and solutions they need to achieve their Net Zero goal in a socially inclusive way.
We offer news and event updates, covering all domains and topics of Horizon Europe, Digital Europe & EDF (and occasionally, for ongoing projects, Horizon 2020).

If you’ve never heard of Limecraft, you’re clearly not working in the media sector. Their SaaS platform provides integrated workflows for media management, scripted and unscripted TV, and subtitling and localisation. It is used by leading broadcasting companies – such as BBC, VRT, NPO… – and production firms of which De Mensen or Hotel Hungaria might ring a bell (at least if you are Belgian).
NCP Flanders went to Ghent to interview Maarten Verwaest, CEO and cofounder, about how he sees Horizon 2020. Limecraft is a partner in the MeMAD project, which is a collaborative RIA project submitted to an ICT call topic.
