ProgrammesThe Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership brings together 74 partner institutions from 32 countries and the European Commission under Horizon Europe. They have recently opened a new transnational access call to marine and maritime research infrastructures with several intermediary deadlines. The next cut-off is 20 October 2026 at 11:00 CEST.
The call gives applicants pan-European access to around 50 marine and maritime research infrastructures across the Atlantic Ocean, North Sea, Baltic Sea, Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea. Available infrastructures include research vessels, fixed platforms and experimental stations, mobile platforms such as AUVs and gliders, analytical laboratories and test benches, high performance computing and digital facilities, portable equipment, and virtual labs or data infrastructures.
Proposals are assessed by an International Evaluation Panel against excellence, impact, and quality and efficiency of implementation. Each criterion has a threshold of 3/5 and the overall threshold is 10/15.

• NGOs
• Public Authorities
Applicants must demonstrate own funding to conduct the project. The Partnership covers access costs to RIs but not operational costs of the user team.

The YoPA project, ‘a youth-centred preventive action approach towards co-created implementation of socially and physically activating environmental interventions’ obtained funding from Horizon Europe’s Health Cluster. The project addresses the multifaceted challenges of physical inactivity and health inequalities through a unique participatory approach. The project places teenagers between 12 and 18 years old in vulnerable situations at the forefront of the intervention process. The Institute of Tropical Medicine is a partner in the project and will conduct a Realist Evaluation to understand how youth co-creation contributes to improved adolescent health and well-being in four cities in Denmark, Netherlands, Nigeria and South Africa. By integrating its results and sharing its approach in an open access Toolbox, ITM aims to contribute to fostering sustainable, youth-led solutions for healthier urban environments.
