Programmes
Digital, Industry & Space EIT Deployment: Best use of technologies

The Co-Creation Accelerator is a programme run by 28DIGITAL (formerly EIT Digital). It brings together start-ups and industry partners to co-develop solutions to real-world challenges, with a focus on:

  • Validating core technology (TRL 4-5 and above)
  • Strengthening problem-solution fit
  • Reducing technical and market uncertainty
  • Building a clear path towards scalability

The programme is built around real industry challenges and is funded through an equity model: 28DIGITAL takes a 3.5 to 7% share in the business in exchange for funding. As a shareholder, 28DIGITAL can gain certain rights over decisions the business must meet. Applicants should review the share transfer agreement carefully, as it sets out the minority shareholder's (28DIGITAL 's) rights in detail (see page 21 of the call document).

What will you receive?

  • Up to € 250,000 in direct funding
  • Direct collaboration with industry leaders on their specific challenges
  • Fundraising assistance
  • Intensive training from experts

Who should apply?

Applicants should be early-stage digital start-ups that:

  • Qualify as a micro or small enterprise (fewer than 50 employees) under the EU definition
  • Are incorporated and operating in a Horizon Europe member state or a Horizon Europe associated country
  • Operate at TRL 4–5 or above
  • Were incorporated within the last 5 years
  • Have a minimum of 2 FTEs
  • Own or control key IP or technology assets

Candidates must also have a working prototype or proof of concept that has been validated in an experimental setting, and/or a clear problem–solution hypothesis. This programme is not suitable for "idea-stage" teams without a prototype.

How to apply?

Read the call document and the FAQ carefully — most common questions are answered there. If you believe your start-up is a good fit, you can find the full application procedure here.

Miricle - Mine Risk Clearance for Europe

The Miricle project, ‘Mine Risk Clearance for Europe’, obtained funding under the European Defence Industrial Development programme call ‘Underwater control contributing to resilience at sea’. The main objective of the project was to achieve a European and sovereign capacity in future mine warfare and create a path for the next generation ‘made in Europe’ countermeasure solutions. In order to realise this objective, Miricle addressed various stages: studies, design, prototyping and testing. These stages inter alia included the successful testing of an XL Unmanned Underwater Vehicle, a protototyped mine disposal system and multiple innovative systems to detect buried mines. Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), was one of the five Belgian partners in the consortium. Within the project, VLIZ was able to forward its research on the acoustic imaging of the seabed to spatially map and visualize buried structures and objects - in this case buried mines - in the highest possible detail. VLIZ also led the work on ‘Port and Offshore Testing’, building on the expertise of the institute in the field of marine operations and technology.
