Zero-emission waterborne transport

The partnership Zero-emission waterborne transport aims to provide and demonstrate zero-emission solutions for all main ship types and services before 2030, which will enable zero-emission waterborne transport before 2050. 

In addition, the partnership will

  • develop and demonstrate deployable technological solutions which will be applicable for the decarbonisation and elimination of other harmful emissions of main ship types and services
  • facilitate the implementation of economically viable European new technologies and concepts regarding zero-emission waterborne transport, to strengthen the competitiveness of European industries in growing green ship technology markets and provide the capability to re-enter markets presently dominated by Europe’s competitors
  • facilitate the development and implementation of regulations and policies at national and international level, including the development of standards to enable the implementation of technological solutions for zero-emission waterborne transport by 2030 at the latest
  • facilitate the uptake of innovative zero-emission waterborne transport technologies and solutions within the European waterborne sector, supporting economic growth and European employment

What are partnerships?

Partnerships group the EC and private and/or public partners, to coordinate and streamline the research & innovation initiatives and funding in some selected key domains.

How to use partnerships?

  • orientation
    Partnerships publish strategic documents, e.g. outlining the main research and innovation challenges or key focus points.
  • networking
    Partnerships often organise events, such as info days, brokerage events, etc. Meet potential partners and learn about the nuances that are not visible in the official documents.
  • ecosystem analysis
    Partnerships typically have an advisory board, and publish impact studies of previous actions. These are good sources of information to uncover the main R&D&I players in the domain.
  • steering the agenda
    Partnerships collaborate with the EC on outlining the strategy and the future funding opportunities in their domain, based on input from industry, academia, and other stakeholders.

ILVO, Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Flemish node of the AgriFoodTEF supports the entire agri-food business, leveraging its infrastructures, experience and vast network established through participation in numerous Digital Europe and Horizon Europe initiatives.
