The conference will focus on the current question: how can we provide energy security to Europe while improving biodiversity in and around the North Sea ? Key speakers include officials from different directorates-general at the European Commission, several distinguished academics , representatives from industry and the ambassadors of Norway and the UK. 

Attendees can expect a mix of panel discussions, speeches and demonstrations. It is a two-day event with the conference on the first day and a reception in the evening at the residence of the British Ambassador which will provide attendees with an ideal opportunity to enhance their network. The second day is a morning workshop focusing on research collaboration.

ERC grants for UGent professor Lieven Eeckhout

Professor Lieven Eeckhout’s main research interests include computer architecture and the hardware/software interface with a specific emphasis on performance evaluation and modeling, and dynamic resource management.

Professor Eeckhout is the recipient of a European Research Council (ERC) Starting grant, Advanced grant and three Proof of Concept grants. Two of his former PhD students founded in 2013 CoScale, a spin-off in data center monitoring, which was acquired by New Relic.
