The ESA Acceleration Days on Crisis Preparedness will take place from October 20 to 24, 2024. This in-person event is designed as a fast-paced competition, similar to hackathons, where top teams work to develop innovative solutions for pressing challenges in Europe.

The focus will be on creating solutions for the evacuation of a large stadium during a crisis incident. This initiative is a collaboration between ESA, safe.brussels, and the Midi Police Zone, aiming to find practical solutions to real-world problems.

The competition is open to all organizations from ESA Member States, including industry, SMEs, startups, research centers, and academia. Teams must consist of at least three members and will receive support throughout the event to refine and pitch their ideas to a jury.

For more information on applying to the ESA Acceleration Days on Crisis Preparedness, visit OSIP.
Applications close on July 31, 2025, at 23:59 CEST.

SAPHIRe - Securing the Adoption of Personalised Medicin in Regions

The Department of Economy, Science and Innovation of the Flemish government coordinates the Horizon 2020 Coordination and Support Action SAPHIRe, which started on 1 December 2018. The aim of the project is to secure the adoption of personalised medicine in all European regions, including sparsely populated and remote regions and regions with different innovation capacities.

The activities of SAPHIRe are complementary to the smart specialisation partnership on personalised medicine – S3P4PM, which is also coordinated by the Department of Economy, Science and Innovation.
