The Academia Europaea (AE) Budapest Knowledge Hub will host an online event to discuss possibilities of Widening European participation in European Research Council (ERC) grants. The event will feature a keynote introductory speech by Prof. Maria Leptin (MAE, President of the ERC) presenting the white paper of the ERC working group on Widening European participation. This talk will be followed by two best practice examples from widening countries, first, the successful Czech ERC mentoring scheme will be presented by Prof. Zdenek Strakos (Charles University in Prague), then Prof. András Stipsicz (ERC Scientific Council member, Rényi Institute) will share the secrets of the very successful application of the Rényi Institute’s researchers to various ERC grants. These presentations will be followed by a Q&A session moderated by Katalin Solymosi (FYAE, vice academic director of the AE Budapest Hub). The aim of this event is to understand various obstacles, difficulties as well as good practices to overcome them with the ultimate goal to promote wider participation among researchers from EU13, Associated Countries as well as outside of Europe.

The event is organized within the frame of the project entitled “Strengthening Participation of Widening Countries in EU R&I Programmes” realized as part of the Academia Europaea Budapest Knowledge Hub’s “From Knowledge to Activity” research initiative.
