ProgrammesNCP_WIDERA.NET, the network of National Contact Points for Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area (WIDERA) organises the ERA Knowledge Day and Brokerage Event for the ERA Call 2024-02. The event is focused on the ERA 2024-02 call topics specified in the Horizon Europe WIDERA Work Programme for 2023-2025. The call for the 3 call topics opened on 15 May and will close on 25 September 2024 17:00.
Programme of the day
10h-12:30h: In the first part of the event, participants will gain insights into the new ERA call topics for 2024 (HORIZON-WIDERA-2024-ERA-02), as outlined in the WIDERA Work Programme 2023-2025. These presentations will be conducted by European Commission officers.
13:30-18:00: The second part of the event will provide an opportunity for participants to engage in matchmaking with potential ERA Call 2024-02 participants and stakeholders through pre-arranged bilateral meetings. This aims to identify possible collaborations and streamline the establishment of Horizon Europe ERA project consortia.
Participation in this event is free of charge and registration is mandatory on the event website.

Autoship is, as the name suggests, an acronym for autonomous ship. Just like with self-driving cars, the possibilities of an unmanned boat seem endless. It can create more efficient freight transport, around the clock deliveries and these are just a few of the examples. The project has two societal challenges.
At first, De Vlaamse Waterweg was a bit hesitant as their experience with FP7 or Horizon 2020 projects was limited and they had not been very successful up until then. The fact that they were already doing basic research on the topic of autonomous boats, and the administrative help of NCP FLanders helped De Vlaamse waterweg to cross the line and get involved.
