The renewed Ravelijnlezing focuses on regional cooperation and strategic challenges in the Flemish-Dutch Delta. It looks at how society can remain resilient in a world of rapid change, with particular attention to cooperation between government, business and defence. The programme brings together companies, public authorities and knowledge institutions around the theme "Resilient Delta".

The event is organised by Stichting Ravelijnlezing in cooperation with the province of Noord-Brabant, the municipality of Woensdrecht and regional partners. The central theme is resilience in the Flemish-Dutch Delta and the question of how government, industry and defence can work together in response to fast-changing and complex challenges.

Speakers include Beatrice de Graaf, historian and professor at Utrecht University, and Lieutenant General André Steur, Commander of the Dutch Air and Space Forces. The session is chaired by Wobine Buijs-Glaudemans, chair of SER Brabant.

The lecture takes place in an aircraft maintenance hangar at Business Park Aviolanda, within the HIVE Aerospace Collective in Hoogerheide. The venue is presented as a place where companies, defence, education and government work together on the future of military and civil aviation.

STARGATE - Sustainable Aviation

The Stargate project obtained funding under the special Green Deal call of Horizon 2020, more in particular under the topic of “green ports and airports”.  It received the maximum score of the evaluators and was selected out of more than 40 projects. Stargate’s purpose is to prove that sustainable aviation is possible and happening. It focuses on the further decarbonization of the aviation industry, the improvement of local environmental quality and the stimulation of the modal split. Together with a consortium of 21 European partners with a diverse and rich expertise (airports, community partners, knowledge institutions, consultants, local governments, …), Brussels Airports takes the lead as lighthouse airport to develop and implement innovative solutions. Results that prove successful can be deployed at the fellow airports (Toulouse, Budapest, Athens). Over the course of the coming five years, the consortium will exchange knowledge to investigate and realize more than 30 concrete projects.
