MSCA EIC EIT

InnoNext is a collaborative initiative powered by the European Innovation Council that links EIT Community talent (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) with start-ups and SMEs for fully funded innovation internships across Europe.

Who can take part?

a) talents

  • Students in (and graduates from) EIT Label Masters and Doctoral programmes
  • EIT Alumni member
  • Participants from other postdoctoral training programmes supported by the EIT Community

b) startups and SMEs

  • Startups and SMEs supported by the EIT Community and its business creation services
  • Businesses founded with support from Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs)
  • Companies that have partnered with KICs for innovation activities
  • Startups or scale-ups with at least one co-founder who is an EIT Alumni member

For participants, the scheme is designed to connect academic knowledge with business needs and help bridge research and industry. Talents can gain entrepreneurial and professional experience, build networks in Europe’s innovation ecosystem, and receive financial support for internships lasting three to six months. Start-ups and SMEs can host specialised research talent without taking on the internship cost, and can use the platform’s AI-based matching system to find candidates suited to their innovation needs.

An information session is planned for 12 June 2026 from 15h to 16h. Applications are open until 31 July 2026 and more information is available on the InnoNext platform.

Autoship - a new and durable way of freight transport

Autoship is, as the name suggests, an acronym for autonomous ship. Just like with self-driving cars, the possibilities of an unmanned boat seem endless. It can create more efficient freight transport, around the clock deliveries and these are just a few of the examples. The project has two societal challenges.

At first, De Vlaamse Waterweg was a bit hesitant as their experience with FP7 or Horizon 2020 projects was limited and they had not been very successful up until then. The fact that they were already doing basic research on the topic of autonomous boats, and the administrative help of NCP FLanders helped De Vlaamse waterweg to cross the line and get involved.
