ERA Talent Platform launched
At the EURAXESS Biennial Conference 2024, which took place in Katowice, Poland, the European Research Area Talent Platform was presented. The ERA Talent Platform provides access to a range of services for researchers and research and innovation institutions, including the:
- EURAXESS networks and portals:
- Researchers can search the database for vacancies, hosting and funding offers and connect with local EURAXESS Service Centers for guidance on relocation to career development services. Furthermore career development tools and resources are offered.
- Organisations can publish job vacancies and hosting offers in the database to attract talented staff. Resources and tools are available for existing EURAXESS career development services and to set up new ones.
- Human Resources Excellence in Research award (HRS4R) which is awarded to research performing organisations that are progressing in the implementation of the principles of the European Charter for Researchers in their policies and practices.
- RESAVER pension scheme
- Innovation Talent Platform which will become an EU-wide matchmaking tool to help European businesses to find the talents they need beyond EU.
- Research and Innovation Careers Observatory: The objective is to develop a living information repository for monitoring trends in research and innovation talent development, careers and circulation in EU and OECD countries and other major economies and will be made available in the second half of 2025.

BEAT-AF - Ground-Breaking Electroporation-based intervention for Atrial Fibrillation treatment
The Horizon2020 project BEAT-AF brings together 9 European renowned clinical centres in France, Belgium, Czechia, Germany and Austria. Together, the consortium strives to revolutionize Atrial Fibrillation (AF) treatment through catheter ablation and contribute to decrease the huge burden of AF in Europe. The BEAT-AF project kicked off in 2021 and will run until 2026. The department of electrophysiology of the AZ Sint-Jan Hospital in Bruges is partner in the project and has so far contributed to the pre-clinical development, the first in man studies and first registries of the revolutionary AF treatment put forward by the consortium. The first pilot studies show that the treatment is safe, effective and efficient.
