ProgrammesAs part of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre's project "Strengthening and connecting eco-systems of science for policy", the JRC is organising - in partnership with the European Committee of the Regions - a workshop on "Science for policymaking in Regions and Cities" on 23 March 2021 (13h30-17h00).
The workshop will bring professionals from regional and local governments and public administrations, the scientific community, Academies of Science, and other organisations together with an interest and experience in bringing scientific knowledge into the policymaking process at regional and local level.
Concretely, the workshop provides a mix of plenary interventions and highly interactive break-out groups that aim at understanding what works (and what does not), for what reasons, and how can we improve the eco-system of science for policy at sub-national level in the EU Member States.
More information on this event and registration can be found here.
We offer news and event updates, covering all domains and topics of Horizon Europe, Digital Europe & EDF (and occasionally, for ongoing projects, Horizon 2020).

Autoship is, as the name suggests, an acronym for autonomous ship. Just like with self-driving cars, the possibilities of an unmanned boat seem endless. It can create more efficient freight transport, around the clock deliveries and these are just a few of the examples. The project has two societal challenges.
At first, De Vlaamse Waterweg was a bit hesitant as their experience with FP7 or Horizon 2020 projects was limited and they had not been very successful up until then. The fact that they were already doing basic research on the topic of autonomous boats, and the administrative help of NCP FLanders helped De Vlaamse waterweg to cross the line and get involved.
