ProgrammesCascade funding, also known as financial support to third parties (FSTP), is an instrument of the European Commission to manage funding calls with smaller grant sizes. The main objective is to simplify the administrative processes faced by European companies, allowing them to faster access to finance. A complete overview of all FSTP calls can be found on the F&T portal.
Sploro (an organisation that participates as a project partner in some projects managing FSTP)is organizing an info day to provide first-hand information on the following open calls:
NGI Sargasso: Unique collaborative ecosystem and programme for promoting the transatlantic cooperation in NGI technologies.
NGI Sargasso 2nd Open Call will support projects lead by Member States and Associated Countries in the field of Next Generation Internet that count with an effective collaboration with US and/or Canadian institutions. Funding will be distributed only to the entities from Member States and Associated Countries, although an effective collaboration is required.
FIDAL: Field Trials Beyond 5G
FIDAL invites European third parties such as companies, research centers or any other relevant entity as well as facilities and infrastructure owners, to undertake a set of new or complementary 5G use cases to further enrich the main areas of interest and to perform related large-scale trials.
TrialsNet: TRials Supported By Smart Networks Beyond 5G
TrialsNet invites European third parties such as verticals, companies (including SMEs), research centers or any other relevant entity, as well as facilities and infrastructure owners, to participate in its large-scale trials activities through the implementation of additional, diversified, and heterogeneous vertical use cases.

The Miricle project, ‘Mine Risk Clearance for Europe’, obtained funding under the European Defence Industrial Development programme call ‘Underwater control contributing to resilience at sea’. The main objective of the project was to achieve a European and sovereign capacity in future mine warfare and create a path for the next generation ‘made in Europe’ countermeasure solutions. In order to realise this objective, Miricle addressed various stages: studies, design, prototyping and testing. These stages inter alia included the successful testing of an XL Unmanned Underwater Vehicle, a protototyped mine disposal system and multiple innovative systems to detect buried mines. Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), was one of the five Belgian partners in the consortium. Within the project, VLIZ was able to forward its research on the acoustic imaging of the seabed to spatially map and visualize buried structures and objects - in this case buried mines - in the highest possible detail. VLIZ also led the work on ‘Port and Offshore Testing’, building on the expertise of the institute in the field of marine operations and technology.
