ProgrammesA training proposal writing on the ERC Starting and Consolidator Grants 2027 calls for proposals is organised by NCP Flanders. The training is organised to support potential researchers and host institutions in the preparation of their ERC Starting and Consolidator Grant application at a host institution located in Flanders or a Flemish public institution located anywhere in Belgium. Researchers who are planning to submit an ERC Starting or Consolidator Grant proposal for the 2027 call are encouraged to attend this training.
ERC Starting Grants 2027 are targeting researchers who have successfully defended their first PhD no more than 10 years before 1 January 2027. ERC Consolidator Grants 2027 are targeting researchers who have successfully defended their first PhD between 5 and 15 years before 1 January 2027. Please note the eligibility periods can be extended beyond 10 and 15 years for certain situations.
Researchers will be awarded at most one Starting Grant and one Consolidator Grant during their career. The amount of the grant is up to €1,5 million (Starting Grants) or €2 million (Consolidator Grants) for 5 years – or up to €3,5 million (Starting Grants) or €4 million (Consolidator Grants) in specific cases. More information can be found in the following ERC announcements: Applying for an ERC grant in the 2027 competitions: what you need to know (16 April) and ERC Scientific Council readjusts rules for reapplication (29 April).
The ERC Work Programme 2027 is not yet available so call opening dates and deadlines are not yet known. As in previous years publication of the work programme is expected in summer 2026. The 2027 ERC Starting and Consolidator Grant calls will become available after the publication of the work programme on the European Commission Funding and Tender Portal.
It is advised to potential applicants to also attend the ERC Starting and Consolidator Grants 2027 calls Belgian webinar on the call modalities which will take place on 5 June 2026.
Participation to this training is free of charge. Registration via this registration form is required (preferably with a professional e-mail address).

The MareGraph project, ‘Towards an Interoperable Marine Knowledge Graph’, obtained funding under the Digital Europe topic ‘OPEN-AI – Public Sector Open Data for AI and Open Data Platform’. The project will increase the semantic, technical, and legal interoperability of three selected high-valued datasets (HVDs) all maintained by the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), which is one of the four partners of the project. This will allow the onboarding of essential marine datasets in the Common European Data Spaces. As such MareGraph will provide a structural component in the digital transition of the marine landscape. The numerous impacts of the project will benefit our seas globally in old and new ways to come.
