The European Commisson has adopted two strategies with the aim of driving adoption in key industries and putting Europe at the forefront of AI-driven science. Apply AI Strategy The Apply AI Strategy sets out how to speed up the use of AI in Europe's key industries and the public sector. It aims to make use of AI's transformative potential by promoting the adoption of AI across strategic and public sectors including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, energy, mobility, manufacturing, construction, agri-food, defence, communications and culture. It will also support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with their specific needs and help industries integrate AI into their operations. Concrete measures include establishing AI-powered advanced screening centres for healthcare and supporting the development of frontier models and agentic AI tailored to sectors such as manufacturing, environment and pharmaceuticals. AI in Science Strategy Alongside Apply AI, the AI in Science Strategy positions the EU as a hub for AI-driven scientific innovation. At its centre is RAISE - the Resource for AI Science in Europe, a virtual European institute to pool and coordinate AI resources for developing AI and applying it in science. It aims to advance the responsible and strategic integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into the European research and innovation landscape by supporting the uptake of AI across all disciplines accelerating discoveries and breakthroughs addressing major societal challenges boosting innovation, job and growth

This next round comprises 14 call topics in total, covering the subdomains AI, data & cloud (see call topics here and here) Advanced Digital Skills Deployment European Digital Innovation Hubs The calls will open on 4 November 2025, the deadline to submit proposals is 3 March 2026.
2025-10-07 EICThe short proposal call HORIZON-EIC-2025-ACCELERATOR-01 will close on October 28th 2025 at 5pm Brussels time. This call will be replaced by the 2026 short proposal call HORIZON-EIC-2026-ACCELERATOR-01 upon the adoption of the 2026 EIC Work Programme, indicatively planned around November 6th 2025.
2025-10-06 ERCThe ERC is looking for ERC grantees to participate in the 2026 edition of the annual ‘Science is Wonderful!’ science fair. This event is aimed at primary and secondary school students and gives them the opportunity to interact with teams of researchers that showcase their work at booths through live experiments, interactive presentations, floor games, physical challenges and many other creative formats. The Horizon2020 project BEAT-AF brings together 9 European renowned clinical centres in France, Belgium, Czechia, Germany and Austria. Together, the consortium strives to revolutionize Atrial Fibrillation (AF) treatment through catheter ablation and contribute to decrease the huge burden of AF in Europe. The BEAT-AF project kicked off in 2021 and will run until 2026. The department of electrophysiology of the AZ Sint-Jan Hospital in Bruges is partner in the project and has so far contributed to the pre-clinical development, the first in man studies and first registries of the revolutionary AF treatment put forward by the consortium. The first pilot studies show that the treatment is safe, effective and efficient.
