Programmes AI ContinentThe “Agridataspace” preparatory action, one of several data space-related projects financed by the Digital Europe programme, has concluded its activities and delivered recommendations for the roll-out of the Common European Agricultural Data Space (CEADS).
The project aimed at preparing a Common European Agricultural data space (CEADS) that facilitates data sharing, processing, and analysis in a secured, trusted, transparent and responsible manner. Deployment should lead to an increase in the sector’s performance and boost data-driven innovations – both on the private and public side. The CEADS, originally announced under the European Strategy for Data, will support the acceleration of the twin digital and green transitions in the sector, for the reduction of administrative burdens, and providing the foundation for the application of powerful, newly emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.
A policy brief (.pdf) has been published to outline the proposed approach for the data space, as it regards governance and business models, and the blueprint for a technical reference architecture. In addition to discussing the enabling framing conditions, the document particularly reflects on how the different stakeholders can contribute to the implementation of the data space: policy-makers at EU and national levels, sectoral organisations, including farmers’ and producers’ organisations and cooperatives, industry, especially agricultural machinery manufacturers, and innovators, such as start-ups.
The Common European Agricultural Data Space will be one among many sectoral Common European Data Spaces.

If you’ve never heard of Limecraft, you’re clearly not working in the media sector. Their SaaS platform provides integrated workflows for media management, scripted and unscripted TV, and subtitling and localisation. It is used by leading broadcasting companies – such as BBC, VRT, NPO… – and production firms of which De Mensen or Hotel Hungaria might ring a bell (at least if you are Belgian).
NCP Flanders went to Ghent to interview Maarten Verwaest, CEO and cofounder, about how he sees Horizon 2020. Limecraft is a partner in the MeMAD project, which is a collaborative RIA project submitted to an ICT call topic.
