EuroHPC JU Work Programme amended to set the budget for AI Gigafactories

The EuroHPC Joint Undertaking has adopted an update to its 2026 Work Programme, securing funding for AI Gigafactories and clarifying the conditions for its allocation.
Funding for the AI Gigafactories will combine EU funding, contributions from participating countries, and private investments. EU financial support comes from three EU programmes: Digital Europe Programme, Horizon Europe and Connecting Europe Facility - Digital.
The planned EU contribution amounts to €1 billion in total and is expected to cover 17% of the estimated construction costs of the AI Gigafactories.
The next steps expected include securing funding commitments from interested countries, joint procurement by EuroHPC JU and participating countries to select the best offers, and signing hosting agreements with selected consortia.
