Overview of the call

EIT Health, a Knowledge and Innovation Community of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), is inviting consortia of technology transfer offices and entrepreneurship support providers to deliver activities under the "Beyond the Lab: From Research to Venture" programme in 2027 and 2028.

This six-month venture-building programme helps researchers turn promising healthcare innovations into incorporated start-ups. The selected consortium will deliver live masterclasses, structured mentoring and a final Pitch Day for two cohorts, while EIT Health will oversee the programme design and management.

Who can apply?

Applicants must form a consortium of two technology transfer offices representing higher education institutions or research organisations and one entrepreneurship support provider. The consortium should combine expertise in intellectual property and technology transfer with practical experience in venture building, market validation, business model development and investment readiness.

BEAT-AF - Ground-Breaking Electroporation-based intervention for Atrial Fibrillation treatment

The Horizon2020 project BEAT-AF brings together 9 European renowned clinical centres in France, Belgium, Czechia, Germany and Austria. Together, the consortium strives to revolutionize Atrial Fibrillation (AF) treatment through catheter ablation and contribute to decrease the huge burden of AF in Europe. The BEAT-AF project kicked off in 2021 and will run until 2026. The department of electrophysiology of the AZ Sint-Jan Hospital in Bruges is partner in the project and has so far contributed to the pre-clinical development, the first in man studies and first registries of the revolutionary AF treatment put forward by the consortium. The first pilot studies show that the treatment is safe, effective and efficient.
