ProgrammesThematic call for proposals Pulsed Directed Energy Effectors
Reminder & important change
On 21 August, the Royal Higher Institute for Defence (RHID) will launch a thematic call for proposals “Pulsed Directed Energy Effectors”.
The call will focus on the delivery of technology brick demonstrations up to TRL 4 for directed-energy Counter-UAS technologies, explicitly targeting pulsed microwave and waveform-controlled laser approaches, as a first step toward future proof-of-concept and technology-demonstrator activities.
In contradiction to information that was previously communicated, there is no triple helix requirement for applications in this call. Proposals can be submitted by a single organisation or by a partnership.
Budget of the call is 5 M€.
The projects will have a duration of 12 to 18 months.
Timeline of submission and evaluation will be short as projects must be awarded before the end of this year.
Deadline for pre-proposals: 11 September 2026 (14h)
Deadline for full proposals: 16 October 2026 (14h)

The RUSTICA project obtained funding under Horizon 2020, more in particular under the topic ‘Closing nutrient cycles’. RUSTICA focuses on demonstration and implementation of circular bio-based nutrient valorisation chains, focusing on waste from the fruit and vegetable agro-food system. The project kicked off in 2021 and will run until 2024. It will use a strong multi-actor approach to co-create both socio-economic and technological knowledge in four case study regions in Europe and one in Colombia. The Flanders-based company DRANCO is one of the project partners and acts as technical project manager for the entire project. DRANCO participates in the project to develop its own technologies, to network and to help make the transition to a more circular based economy.
