This business mission is organised by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation for EU companies and clusters active in the space sector. It is designed to help participants present their expertise at the International Space Industry Exhibition (ISIEX), meet potential Japanese partners and clients, and learn more about the Japanese space market. The mission focuses in particular on downstream space applications and related technologies.

The ISIEX mission is part of the Space Business Mission to Japan and targets organisations active across the space value chain. For the ISIEX cohort, the focus areas include Earth observation, remote sensing, geospatial services, disaster prevention and resilience, infrastructure monitoring, environmental monitoring, downstream space applications, space defence and resilience, and dual-use space technologies.

The mission is expected to include participation in ISIEX at Tokyo Big Sight, with a side event on 16 March 2027 in Ibaraki that is listed as tentative. Participants are also expected to attend online business training modules before travelling to Japan, currently scheduled for the mornings of 11 and 12 February 2027. The mission page states that up to 16 participants are foreseen for the ISIEX cohort.

The call is aimed at individuals working for companies, including SMEs and large companies, or clusters from the European Union or countries associated with the Single Market Programme, SME Pillar. More details, eligibility conditions and the application form are available at https://www.eu-japan.eu/events/space-mission

Interested applicants can check the eligibility conditions and submit an application for the ISIEX mission before 4 December 2026.

MareGraph - Towards an Interoperable Marine Knowledge Graph

The MareGraph project, ‘Towards an Interoperable Marine Knowledge Graph’, obtained funding under the Digital Europe topic ‘OPEN-AI – Public Sector Open Data for AI and Open Data Platform’. The project will increase the semantic, technical, and legal interoperability of three selected high-valued datasets (HVDs) all maintained by the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), which is one of the four partners of the project. This will allow the onboarding of essential marine datasets in the Common European Data Spaces. As such MareGraph will provide a structural component in the digital transition of the marine landscape. The numerous impacts of the project will benefit our seas globally in old and new ways to come.
