The International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI) 2026 is hosted by the National Research Council (CNR). It is the flagship global forum for strategic dialogue and international cooperation on research infrastructures (RIs). It brings together scientists, policymakers, RI directors and operators, funding organisations and industry to share best practices, align priorities, and help shape the future of the world’s most advanced facilities, services, and data ecosystems.

ICRI 2026 will combine plenary and parallel sessions, side-events, exhibits and networking, designed by an international Programme Committee to reflect global priorities in research infrastructures

Programme themes

• Theme 1 - Research Infrastructures as Drivers of Socio-Economic Impact

How can we measure and communicate the contributions of RIs to research and innovation, regional and global development, public services, workforce skills, and wider societal benefits? ICRI 2026 will explore approaches, indicators, and governance practices that support evidence-informed investment and long-term sustainability.

• Theme 2 - Research Infrastructures as Instruments of Science Diplomacy

RIs enable international collaboration and provide shared platforms for global scientific responses. ICRI 2026 will discuss how infrastructures can foster openness, trust among nations, and mutually beneficial cooperation - especially in a complex geopolitical context.

(Pre-)registration

Registration will open via the ICRI 2026 website. Participants will be able to register for onsite or online attendance, build their agenda, and access conference services through the conference platform.

Important Note: Registration for ICRI 2026 does NOT include registration for the ESFRI Roadmap 2026 Launch Event. Likewise, registration for the Launch Event does NOT include registration for ICRI 2026. Separate registration is required for each event.
