ProgrammesThis information webinar on the European Research Council (ERC) Synergy Grants 2027 call for proposals is organised by the National Contact Points (NCPs) for ERC in Belgium (NCP Federal BE, NCP Flanders and NCP-FNRS) to inform potential applicants and host institutions. It is also aimed at researchers who are considering applying in the future.
The ERC Synergy Grants 2027 call is expected to open on 17 February with a deadline on 11 May 2027. The ERC work programme 2027 was published in July 2026 and provides further information on the call.
ERC Synergy Grants target a group of two to maximum four researchers (Principal Investigators or PIs) working together and bringing different skills and resources to tackle ambitious research problems. No specific eligibility criteria regarding the academic training are foreseen for ERC Synergy Grants. PIs must present competitive track records as appropriate to their career stage. The ERC Synergy Grants 2027 call will be made available on the European Commission Funding and Tender Portal.
Participation in the webinar is free but restricted to researchers wishing to apply with a Belgian host institution, or staff members of Belgian host institutions. PIs who are members of an ERC Synergy Grant group including a Belgian Host Institution might also participate, in which case they should mention in the registration form this Belgian Host Institution as Host Institution. Registration is mandatory.
Registration will open at a later date (expected on Monday 9 November). A notification will be sent when registration opens.

The ATHENA project addresses emerging risks for the water sector in operational technology created by digitalisation. The project responds to Digital Europe call DIGITAL-ECCC-2022-CYBER-03-UPTAKE-CYBERSOLUTIONS – Uptake op Innovative Cybersecurity Solutions. The project started in September 2023 and will run until November 2026. De Vlaamse Waterweg - The Flemish Waterway participates in the project to enhance the resilience of the organisation by co-developing targeted training modules for operational technology environments.
