Enhancing EU R&I

The IMPETUS project, co-funded by the EU, has two open calls for Citizen Science projects i.e. the European Union Prize for Citizen Science and the IMPETUS Accelerator Programme. The webinar will provide information on the two calls and a Q&A session.

Registration for the webinar is required here. The recording of the previous webinar is available here.

What is the European Union Prize for Citizen Science?

The European Union Prize for Citizen Science invites submissions from a diverse range of initiatives that demonstrate outstanding examples of both citizens engaging with science and research, and scientists and researchers engaging with society. An initiative could consist of a project, a series of projects, an activity, or series of activities.

The Prize consists of a Grand Prize of €60,000, as well as two additional prizes to projects that best demonstrate how citizen science can be used to promote Diversity and Collaboration and Digital Communities, both of which will be awarded €20,000, and 27 projects will receive honorary mentions and will be showcased alongside the three prize winners.

The submission deadline for the European Union Prize for Citizen Science is 10 March 2025 (23:59 CET).

What is the IMPETUS Accelerator Programme?

The IMPETUS Accelerator Programme supports new and ongoing projects which for this call need to focus on either of the following challenges: Challenge 1 Citizen Science for Circular Communities; Challenge 2 Citizen Science for a Fair and Just Society. Successful applicants will receive funding and support to deliver a seven-month project. Projects can apply for two kinds of grants, depending on their current development stage:

  • Kickstarting grant €20,000 for projects that are no more than six months into their Citizen Science journey and are yet to establish a community and/or data collection and processing procedures.
  • Sustaining grant €10,000 for projects that are more advanced, with established processes, an engaged community, and initial evidence of impact.

It is expected these grants to be awarded for the continuation, enhancing of impact, and/or further establishment of existing projects.

The submission deadline for the IMPETUS Accelerator Programme is 13 March 2025 (12:00 CET).
