The funding granted by the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) is based on a model of blended finance, where EU funding is matched by contributions from IHI's industry partners and (in some projects) other organisations such as philanthropic foundations.

The majority (around 90%) of the industry contribution to IHI projects is ‘in-kind’. In-kind contributions include scientific and regulatory expertise; unique data, assets and compounds; and access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure and cutting-edge technology. Crucially, these private sector in-kind contributions complement the skills, expertise and resources brought into the project by the ‘public’ partners such as universities and patient organisations.

During this webinar, representatives of IHI projects will:

  • explain how in-kind contributions allowed the projects to deliver results that would not have been possible otherwise;
  • demonstrate how in-kind contributions incentivise the uptake and exploitation of project results;
  • describe how in-kind contributions drive additional activities within and across companies by combining outcomes from several projects.

EITHOS - European Identity Theft Observatory System

The EITHOS project, funded under Horizon Europe Cluster 3 call “Online identity theft is countered”, aims to develop a “European Identity Theft Observatory System” (EITHOS). The system will provide easy access to information and intelligence about previous and current identity theft related trends to empower EU citizens, Law Enforcements Agencies (LEAs), and policy makers to further contribute to the prevention, detection, and investigation of crimes related to online identity theft. The Cyber and Data Security Lab (CDSL), part of the Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) Research Group at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), is one of the 12 partners in the EITHOS consortium, contributing its vast expertise on legal aspects of data protection, cybersecurity and information security law and policy.
