ProgrammesThe European Commission is hosting an info day to inform about a call for proposals for the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI).
To support potential applicants, this information session will offer a closer look at the call topics and objectives, along with practical guidance and a chance to ask questions about the application process.
The call contains three call topics that contribute to the objectives of the EuroQCI Declaration by addressing the maturation of the European industrial ecosystem for security-certified terrestrial Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technologies and systems, the coordination of EuroQCI deployments across Europe and the support to necessary standardisation activities.
To find out more and register for the event, please visit the event page.
The call is published on the EU Funding & Tenders Portal (DIGITAL-IRIS2-2025-QCI), the application will start on 15 July, deadline to submit proposals is 16 October 2025.
EuroQCI aim at securing governmental communication, data and critical infrastructures by deploying a pan European space and terrestrial network for quantum distribution of cryptographic keys (QKD). Building on the activities already funded under the Digital Europe Programme and planned under the Connecting Europe Facility (Digital), the IRIS²program is supporting the further development and deployment of the EuroQCI initiative and prepare for its gradual integration as a service into the Union secure connectivity system.
We offer news and event updates, covering all domains and topics of Horizon Europe, Digital Europe & EDF (and occasionally, for ongoing projects, Horizon 2020).

Founded in 1999, Luciad serves clients in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Though it recently was acquired by Hexagon Geospatial, they kept an agile SME mindset. Thousands of end users work directly with Luciad’s geospatial applications, and major systems integrators (think Airbus Defense and Space, Lufthansa Systems, NATO, Thales…) incorporate its software in their own products.
NCP Flanders went to Leuven to interview Frederic Houbie, the Research Projects Manager at Luciad, about how he sees Horizon 2020. Luciad is a partner in the MARISA project, which is a collaborative RIA project submitted to an ICT call topic.
